Subjective topics can use a simple 1-to-10 scale, while technical topics should use a measurable value, duration, error count, or completion rate.

One unusually good or bad day is not a reliable pattern. Compare several repetitions under similar conditions and consider explanations unrelated to the method being tested. This reduces the influence of expectation, coincidence, and selective memory. For medical, psychological, or safety-critical questions, personal experimentation is not a substitute for professional assessment.

  • Is a factual claim clearly separated from a hypothesis or personal experience?
  • Can the procedure be repeated under comparable conditions?
  • Are results that contradict expectations recorded as carefully as positive ones?
  • Is the benefit large enough to justify the time, cost, and possible risk?
  • Would the same conclusion still seem reasonable if the result were disappointing?
